Great sweet 16 favors..

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

My daughter is turning sixteen and I was looking for some unique ideas for her party. A friend of mine said she went online and found a lot of accessories and party favors for her daughters party. So I decided to give it a try. It was surprising to find so many ideas for party supplies for the tables and little gifts. There were a lot of accessories I found that would be perfect for her party. There were cookie cutters I used to make cookies in the shape of the number 16 for her guests.

Before making any plans, I got her opinion on what she wanted for her party, and it was a party at the roller rink with all the girls sleeping over. I immediately got on the phone and reserved tables at the local roller rink. I sent all of her girl friends special party invitations. It wasn’t nearly as expensive as I thought it would be. They had a great package deal for birthday parties, with pizza, hot dogs and refreshments. I got the house prepared for the party that was to continue after skating. I put up decorations, fixed a table with a few goodies to snack on, along with the sweet 16 cookies I prepared earlier.

The cookie cutters wasn’t the only thing I ordered online. Since this birthday party wasn’t costing me what I thought it would, I decided to order a few sweet sixteen favors for the girls. I found pink photo albums for the girls and gave each of them a disposable camera for party pictures. I gave them the cameras before we left for the roller rink, but they had no idea about the albums until later. Even though they took a lot of photos at the roller rink, they all saved some picture taking for the sleepover.

I also bought each of them little cosmetic bags with their initials on the front. The cosmetic bags were just the beginning, I also bought manicure sets and purse mirrors for each of the girls. I also sat out these adorable little favor boxes I bought online that were filled with candies for each guest. At home, her sweet sixteen party and presents awaited, and we took care of that as soon as we got there. We picked up movies on the way home for the girls and I made sure they had plenty of snacks and drinks, so they were all set for the night. They danced for a while, then they gave each other manicures with their new sets, and of course, they did the make up thing. From all the noise and laughing you knew they were having the time of their lives.

When the noise starting dwindling down they got out the bowls of popcorn and started watching their movies. I wanted to give them as much space as I could and not intrude on their girl time, but I got an invitation to join them for a movie. I thought that was so sweet of them to ask. After the second movie, one by one, they started falling asleep. All that was left was my daughter and I, at least for a few minutes. With her eyes almost closed, she told me how much she loved her birthday party and thanked me.

They ate breakfast and cleaned up everything left from the birthday party before I even got out of bed. I thought that was very thoughtful of them to do that for me. They hung around with my daughter for a couple of hours, then the kids started heading for home. As they were leaving, the girls thanked me for the wonderful time they had and all of the cheap sweet sixteen favors I bought for them. It’s really neat being considered a cool mom.
